Radical Commitment

God longs for us, as His followers, to be radically committed to Him. He does not want us to make room in our closet for Him; He wants the closet to Himself. We seem to be a generation with one commitment: keeping our options open. The only relationship God is interested in is one that is exclusive and completely committed. God is not interested in an “open relationship” with you! (Idleman)

May this be a challenge to us all that we will be committed as much if not more to our Lord as we are committed to other things in our lives!

God Does Not Call Us To Be Comfotable

Broadcast Students, there are so many things in the world that is battling for you attention and even your allegiance! Kyle Idleman calls these things gods (idols).

Some of these things may be extracurricular activities and these activities are not necessarily sinful but they are if they become idols (gods). Idols are something that takes priority over God!

Comfort is a god for many! How do you get rid of the god of comfort? For many that means getting out of their safe zone. God often calls us outside of our comfort zones.

He is calling us to a great adventure that requires risk and faith. The invitation of Jesus is take up a cross and follow Him! It is hard to carry a cross when your comfort is god! (Idleman- gods at war).

Serving God Or God. Serving Us

Broadcast Students, if I were to ask you do you want to serve God or do you want God to serve you, I am sure you all would say I want to serve God. You would think the children of Israel after God performed all the miracles to free them from slavery from the Egyptians would have said we want to serve God! But when they got hungry on their journey to the Promise Land instead of praying they complained.

D.A. Carson said it this way, “Why should people who have witnessed so spectator a display of the grace and power of God slip so easily into muttering and complaining and slide so gracelessly into listless disobedience? To answer lies in the fact that many of them see God as existing to serve them. While Moses had been insisting to Pharaoh that the people needed to retreat into the desert in order to serve and worship God, the people themselves think God exists to serve Him.”

We exist to worship God, meaning we exist to serve Him and Him alone. (Psalm 102:18 & Isaiah 45:18). May that be the prayer of us all!
